BOUQUET OF EMOTIONS
Watercolor
This piece represents the 6 emotions we covered in the Arts Therapy workshop. I drew 6 flowers, and each flower represents an emotion: chamomile for happiness since it’s one of my favorite flowers, a hyacinth for sadness since it symbolizes sorrow, a tiger lily for anger since the bright red colors remind me of anger, a tulip for surprise since one day my mother came home with 3 tulip plants and that surprised me, monkshood for disgust since it can be toxic to humans, and finally the mimosa pudica, the “sensitive plant” for fear since it closes up on itself when touched.
THIRD EYE
Watercolor & Ink
This piece I painted while reflecting on the stress management unit in the Art Therapy workshop, where we explored meditation as a method to help relieve stress. I was inspired by the idea of chakras which are explored in meditation, namely the third eye chakra, to represent a spiritual awakening.
