WHAT DID YOU LEARN ABOUT ART THERAPY THIS SEMESTER?

Testimonials: Team Members

EMILY

This semester, I learned that Art therapy comes in many forms, shapes, and sizes. There are infinite ways to express every emotion through art and use it as a tool to regulate your feelings and help you through both positive and negative emotions. I have expanded my creativity through this workshop and learned more about making art that reflects parts of me that are difficult to express otherwise.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE ACTIVITY THIS SEMESTER?

BULLET JOURNALING

Sasha

My favorite activity was the bullet journal; I hadn't tried it before this and I love that it can be a tool, but also a fun, artistic activity.

HAPPINESS DOODLES

Kari

My favorite activity was the happiness doodles. I love to doodle because doodles don’t have to look good and it was nice to spend some time thinking about and drawing the things that make me happy.

MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS

Jenna D.

My favorite activity this semester was the "Mountain and Valleys" activity where the mountain represented high points and the valley represented low points. This activity allowed me to use a new medium (chalk pastels) and helped me express how my semester had been going up to that point. I learned that I automatically try to ignore my lows by adding in more details that distract from the fact that I was having a bad day. Drawing the mountains and valleys as a physical representation of my highs and lows let me take a step back and evaluate my emotions, how I had been handling them, and how to handle them better in the future.

GIFT OF SURPRISE

Sophia

While I enjoyed that most of our activities were introspective, it was nice to create something for someone else. It was more of a relaxing activity.

MANDALA COLORING

Nana

My favorite activity from this semester was coloring a mandala during class. It was a very relaxing and fun activity.
