For this piece, I really wanted to show my perspective for sadness. During the workshop, we spent a week focusing on sadness and this encouraged me to brainstorm ideas of how sadness felt to me. I wanted to incorporate vivid colors into my photographs as I believe color is important when expressing emotions and can create a mood for the viewer. The blurriness within the photographs is to symbolize a teary vision one gets when they cry. This is definitely a piece that is really telling of how I feel when I am sad.
OVERWHELMED
Photography
For these photos, I wanted to delve into the different variations of sadness. I took this photo in a bathroom because that is where I felt the most sad at times. The different hues of brown speak to me personally because if I were to associate a color with how I feel inside when I am sad it would be this color. The different composition styles that went into this photo were to focus on the different levels of sadness. For example, I used ghosting in my last image to symbolize the hollowness one feels when they experience sadness. This piece really speaks to me because it is a personal telling of how I feel when I am sad and wanted to share that with everyone.
GOLDEN
Photography
For this photo, I mainly wanted to focus on giving happiness to the viewer. When I thought of ideas for this photo, I focused on colors and time of the day where I feel utmost happiness. Therefore, I took this photo during sunset and wanted to create an ethereal feeling for the viewer to look at and feel at peace. The orange/yellow hue coming throughout the photos is to create happiness for the viewer as these colors are associated with the feeling.
