In my efforts to make my quarantine even somewhat bearable, I have spent a quite frankly exorbitant amount of time playing Animal Crossing New Horizons. The game is centered around
an island that you live on that starts out completely deserted before you move in and begin building it up. The island has different natural elements that you can explore like trees, cliffs, beaches, rivers etc. When I decided that I wanted to do an Impressionist painting for ArtFest, I didn't know exactly what I was going to do. I found that nature was often prevalent throughout Impressionist paintings with a strong visualness lent towards clouds and oceans, things that are in common states of motion that require you to only take their impressions. I realized that since I can't really go anywhere beyond the borders of my own home, my little Animal Crossing island could work as a reasonable substitute and could serve as the main font of my inspiration for this painting.
